It is with great pleasure that I wish the people of Sri Lanka the very best for the New Year 2016.It is our duty to work towards the national goals that we have set for ourselves. By defeating terrorism, we have proved to the entire world that it is possible to achieve anything through dedication and commitment. With that now in our past, it is our responsibility to work towards the betterment of the nation in the New Year.
It is necessary for us to safeguard the environment that we created to enable people of all nationalities and religions, whether they be Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, Burgher, Malay, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu or Islamic to live in peace and harmony in one country. We should move forward to create an independent and prosperous nation.
We will come up against obstacles and challenges. But we believe that enemies of this nation will not be able to prevent our forward march.
May you have the strength to overcome the challenges that are to come.
