Selvarani Thambirasa says that the international community failed to see the problem from the perspective of the victims from the ground situation. She points out that the governments of Sri Lanka as well as the international community have failed to provide justice to the families of those who have been forcibly disappeared.
The International Day of Enforced Disappeared was held in in Mannaar and in Ampara last Thursday. The families of those who have been forcibly disappeared who were protesting continuously for more than 500 days in the North-East were present. Selvarani Thambirasa is led the protest in Thirukkovil area against the enforced disappearances.
The coordinators of the five northern districts said that they decided to hold the protest in Mannar this time to draw international attention to the digging of mass graves. It was also revealed that 17 members of the families of the forcibly disappeared who participated in the protest in the five districts of the north have died during the continuous protest that has lasted for more than 500 days.

Family members of those who were forcibly disappeared in Mannar area carried large banners with photographs of Rev. Fr. Jim Brown and Rev. Fr. Francis Joseph who were forcibly disappeared when both fathers helping the people during the war.

එහිදි උතුරේ දිස්ත්‍රික්ක පහේ සම්බන්ධීකාරකවරුන් කියා සිටියේ සමූහ මිනීවළ කැණීම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජාත්‍යන්තර අවධානය යොමු කිරීම සඳහා මෙවර මන්නාරමේ විරෝධතාවය පැවැත්වීමට තීරණය කළ බවයි.දින 500 ඉක්මවූ අඛණ්ඩ විරෝධතාවයේදී උතුරේ දිස්ත්‍රික්ක පහේ විරෝධතාවට සහභාගී වූ බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදහන් වූවන්ගේ පවුල්වල සාමාජිකයින් 17 දෙනෙකු මිය ගොස් තිබේන බවද එහිදි අනාවරණය වුනා.
උතුරේ දිස්ත්‍රික්ක පහේ සම්බන්ධීකාරකවරුන් කියා සිටියේ බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදන් කළ ඔවුන්ගේ ඥාතින්ට සිදුවූයේ කුමක්ද යන්න පිළිබඳව ජාත්‍යන්තර පරීක්ෂණ පැවැත්විය යුතු බවයි.
ඝාතනය කිරිම් සහ අතුරුදන් කිරිම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් වරදකරුවන් වන ජන සංහාරක ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඒකීය රාජ්‍යය තමන් විසින්ම විමර්ශනය කරන්නේ කෙසේදැයි උතුරේ දිස්ත්‍රික්ක පහේ සම්බන්ධීකාරකවරුන් ප්‍රශ්ණ කර සිටි.ඊනියා අතුරුදහන් වූවන් පිළිබඳ කාර්යාලය තවත් රැවටීමක් බව පැහැදිලිවම තහවුරු කර ඇති බවටද ඔහුන් චෝදනා කර සිටිනවා.
බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදහන් කරවුවන්ගේ පවුල්වල සාමාජිකයන් මන්නාරම ප්‍රදේශයේ විරෝධතාවයේ නිරත වූ පවුල් විසින් යුද සමයේ ජනතාවට උපකාර කරමින් බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදන් කිරීමට ලක් වූ ගරු ජිම් බ්‍රවුන් පියතුමාගේ (Rev Fr Jim Brown) සහ ෆ්‍රැන්සිස් ජෝසප් පියතුමාගේ (Rev Fr Francis Joseph) ඡායාරූප ඇතුළත් විශාල බැනර් රැගෙන ගියහ.
